U.S. National Response Forces Foundation (USNRFF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation dedicated to strengthening America’s merchant marine and maritime industry while transforming how the nation responds to crises.

Prepared at Home and Prepared Abroad.

As natural and manmade disasters grow in frequency and severity, our national response must expand in scale and ambition. Disaster response can and must improve by uniting the full capabilities of government, nonprofit, and private sector - including U.S. manufacturing. By linking disaster relief with diplomacy (including domestic public relations), development (including recruiting, education, training, and research), and defense, we can turn humanitarian action into a powerful tool of “soft power.”

USNRFF will achieve this goal through three overlapping phases:
Phase 1 – Recruiting: A national marketing campaign will promote careers in the merchant marine and maritime industry to attract the workforce needed to build, operate, and maintain the ships.
Phase 2 – Pilot Program: In partnership with government, nongovernmental organizations and private sector, we will conduct a pilot program using currently available ships.
